The Pilates Place :: Jackson Hole

MICHELE DORSEY received her Pilates teacher training from The Pilates Center of Boulder, Colorado. She graduated from their rigorous certification program in 2000. After opening her own studio in 2000, she joined partners Pam Woodson and Susanne Staehr in opening The Pilates Place in 2001. Pam and Michele operate the studio in its present location at Smith’s Plaza. In 2007 Michele Dorsey, was one of the first Pilates Instructors in the country to pass the Pilates Method Alliance comprehensive national certification, prior to the publication of their study guide, granting her “Gold Certified Pilates Intstructor” accreditation. In 2007, she undertook her certification in GYROTONIC® instruction and is scheduled to complete her certification in 2008.

PAM WOODSON earned her Pilates Teacher Certification through the Pilates Center of Boulder, Colorado in 2001. She had some exposure to the Pilates method during her dance career and undertook serious study of the work in 1997. As a dancer, she was deeply immersed in performance and teaching with Dancer's Workshop since 1984. Pam also taught aerobics classes and weight training and holds a B.S. degree in Forestry. Pam instructs the pre-natal and post-partum Pilates classes at our studio. She is married to Rob Woodson and is the proud Mother of kindergartener, Eric Woodson.

KRISTIN PAINTER has lived in Jackson for 14 years. She is currently enrolled in the Streamline Pilates Teacher Training program in Salt Lake City, and will graduate in early 2010. She has been a practitioner of Pilates for the past 5 years and was drawn to Pilates because the exercises engaged the mind as well as the body. Intrigued by the amount of focus and control that was involved in a Pilates session, she believes that Pilates is an inner Journey that allows self-discovery and lasting health.

HILARY SMITH, our much loved global traveler has returned again to spend the summer (our winter) working at the South Pole station in Antartica. This past summer she completed her Pilates Teacher Certification through Peak Pilates with Kim Barrett in Bozeman. We are so proud of Hilary and miss her very much. Hopefully she will grace us with her presence again next summer!
